Book Review:

Riordan draws you in from the very first page with action. This book doesn't have one slow paced moment, not even for a split moment. It had me on the edge of my seat through the entire thing. There was one moment in the book that I have been waiting for throughout the entire series that I was anticipating from the beginning which drew me in even closer (talk about in discussion).

This was such a good read that when it ended I was so upset. I really do want to know more and will definitely be continuing with this world by reading The Heroes of Olympus series, Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, and Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes.

Book Discussion: SPOILERS:

What!! What just happened!?! Annabeth, Percy, and Grover once again saved the world with the help of some other campers like Clarisse, Chriss, Chiron, and more. Percy had some really fucking cute moments with his dad and Tyson, who both contributed to saving the god damned world. Luke died by mentally defeating Kronos and killing himself because apparently part of the prophecy was about him but no one knew that.  Oh, and Annabeth and Percy are finally Percabeth!!!

Percy Jackson And The Battle Of The Labyrinth ~ Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to diabolical.

In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labryinth - a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn.

Book Review: 

This was probably my favorite installment of the series so far. It was so fast paced and I really loved the dynamic between Percy and Annabeth, plus the ending was perfection. (I'll talk about that in the discussion section.)

I really enjoyed the concept of the Labyrinth, it made the setting really interesting because you could interpret it all in your own way with the few details that Riordan incorporated in his descriptions. My only question on the Labyrinth is how the hell did they build a shifting, growing, elaborate piece of architecture. Deadulus, the architect, is technically Annabeth's brother. Yes he is thousands of years older than she but I just feel like there should have been more of a connection there. I feel this way about all of the family stuff in this series. No matter what the circumstances are when you discover a new sibling, once past the confusion, there should be so much love and adoration. I love that it is that way between Tyson and Percy but I feel that it is lacking with the other demigods. Like we know that Annabeth has siblings in her cabin but they are never mentioned or discussed and that kind of bothers me. 

 I love how nochalant Percy percieves this entire world now. He is so young and everything has been thrusted at him but none of it really phases him anymore. He's just like, "during the year I live with my mom in the city, get kicked out of school, try to not get killed by monsters. In the summer I live at a camp with  all of my cousins and my Cyclops brother and satyr best friend. Oh and I rarely hear from my father, the sea god. You've all heard of him, Poseidon."

It was just a really fucking great read.

Book Discussion: SPOILERS

So lets talk Percabeth (Percy and Annabeth) first. So there is obviously some tension. You can tell that they both care for each other. She obviously doesn't let him do anything dangerous without her by his side, he is upset that  they have become so distant because of the issue with Luke. These two have been through so much together and they obviously have feelings for each other, I just wish they would do something about it. 

Another Annabeth related thing. Does the fact that her mother, Athena, and her father never having a physical relationship mean that Annabeth was born from Athena's head like Athena was from Zeus. She couldn't be born from her father's head because no mortal could withstand that. I'm just very confused. 

Now lets discuss the whole Kronos and Luke situation. I have hated Luke since the first book. I hate how he has betrayed Olympus, his friends, and his father. I hate how he is willing to let the Titans rise and ruin everything that Olympus has built. (The symbolism of this story line is really great.) But in this book I am beginning to feel bad for him in a way. He really is being used by Kronos, even though it is his own damn fault. The fact that Kronos is in Luke's body now, what does that mean for Luke? Is he still alive in there too or is he forever gone?

;Okay now lets talk about the end. I love that for Percy's birthday his dad showed up. I love that even though he could have heard about what happened from anyone on Olympus or anyone that wasn't Percy he makes a point to come to his sons party and see how he is. I couldn't stop smiling as I read that scene.

Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Titan's Curse ~ Rick Riordan

When the goddess Artemis goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped. And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened. Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing and important vote on the war with the titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared - a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.

Book Review:

I didn't think that I was going to get so easily sucked into this world. I was obsessed with Greek mythology in like 7th grade, which is probably when I should have read this series, but reading it now is pulling me back into a realm that I used to love so much and am beginning to love again. I'm able to read these books within a day or two because they are small and I just can't put them down.

I loved that with each book we are presented with the basics of another myth or god. In this book we learned a bit more about the Titans, the Hunters are introduced, and we learn a bit more about Artemis and her twin brother Apollo. I also really like that the prophecy is still a huge question. No one has an answer and just when you think that there is no one else but **talk about in discussion** for it to be about someone else pops up. Just insane! So many more questions now. 

I'm also really enjoying seeing the character development for Percy, which is something that I felt was lacking in book two. I like how he has come to terms with being a demi-god, son of Poseidon, part of a prophecy that he doesn't understand, and is still remaining to keep some normalcy in his life. I really love his relationship with his mom. You get that she embarrasses him, like most mothers do, but that they have such a tight bond that he has literally risked his life for hers. His friendship with Grover and Annabeth is also perfect. This group reminds me of mine. I also liked seeing that Thalia is struggling with her life now. She and Annabeth are both struggling with what to think of Luke and but Thalia is struggling with Daddy issues and self issues as well. 

Overall, for this being a middle grade novel, I think the character development is complex and intriguing, the plot is educating on Greek mythology, and it's just wonderful.

Book Discussion: SPOILERS:

So Annabeth and Percy may only be 14 in this book and Annabeth may be kidnapped for the majority of it but I SHIP THEM. I've kind of shipped them since book one but now it is official and I will be so upset if they don't end up together at some point in this series. I ship Percabeth. 

I really like Artemis. Athena is still my favorite Olympic Greek God/Goddess but Artemis is pretty cool even though I don't agree with her standing on men. I love how she becomes like a surrogate mom for all of these girls,  like Zoe Nightshade whose demise kills me, for all of eternity. 

So Thalia and Percy's friendly rivalry is perfect. It makes sense for them to act the way they do. Their fathers are always fighting and they are just like their fathers in a way. They've each been through similar experiencing. Plus, Percy kind of ruled camp before Thalia came back to life and now here she is and no one is looking to him to save the day anymore and it has kind of busted his ego and makes him jealous. And in my opinion Thalia is a bitch. I was glad when she joined the Hunters, even though that meant that Percy would be the one of the prophecy, well until we learn that Nico is Hades son. Yeah that's what I mentioned in the review.

So Nico is a little boy that Percy, Thalia, Annabeth, and Grover went to save, along with his sister Bianca (who joined the hunters), at the beginning of the novel. They were stuck in the hotel that Annabeth, Grover, and Percy were stuck in in book one. For them it only felt like hours but in reality it was years and years. So could Nico be the one of the prophecy or no because technically he was conceived before the oath? So many questions!
