Caught in the struggle between good and evil . . .
Cassie has joined the most alluring—and deadly—in-crowd imaginable. But power comes with a price, and it's more dangerous than she knows. Torn between the dueling desires of the two leaders of the Secret Grcle, she must ultimately choose between saving all of New Salem, and her own dangerous love for the bewitching Adam, which threatens to tear the circle apart. In the ultimate battle between good and evil, will Cassie's supernatural powers be strong enough to lead the coven out of danger? Or will she foil prey to the dark forces within?
. . . will she sacrifice her love for the circle to survive?
Book Review:
I think that that this installment was slightly better than the first book. I am now able to understand the dynamics of the circle a bit more and although, it took ages, Cassie, is finally a bit more sure of herself. She is a bit more confident and doesn't just follow the group, even though that didn't happen until later in the book. My hatred for Faye, grew so much more deeply.
*Spoilers* I hate how Cassie allowed herself to be blackmailed by Faye, instead of seeking help from Adam. I hate how Cassie used Nick in a way, because he really did care for her. If I didn't want Cassie to be with Adam so badly I would really want her with Nick, I think that they could really bring the best out in each other. I'm glad that Cassie found out who her father is and I am also glad that Diana is perfectly okay with Cassie and Adam's relationship in the end.
I am really looking forward to the rest of the series now that they have to fight Black John. I am also curious to learn more about Cassie's book of Shadows and see how her relationship with Adam florishes.

“The Henderson brothers never fell for a girl before, but they dont't know if they're on their heads or their feet anymore. I think they're going to make you a pipe bomb for Christmas.” - I just thought that this was funny. All of the boys in the group find Cassie appealing. Adam, Nick, Th Henderson brothers, and scaredy cat Sean.
